Spices Board and Government of Uttarakhand partner to promote spices
The consignment, which departed from Bhubaneswar International Airport, marked a significant moment for local farmers in Patnagarh, Balangir district
In a major milestone for Odisha’s agricultural exports, the state’s first-ever batch of dragon fruit, weighing 4 quintals, has been successfully shipped to Dubai. The initiative was facilitated by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) in collaboration with the Directorate of Horticulture, with Palladium serving as the technical support unit under the Promotion and Stabilisation of Farmer Producer Organisations (PSFPO) project.
The consignment, which departed from Bhubaneswar International Airport, marked a significant moment for local farmers in Patnagarh, Balangir district, where the dragon fruit was organically cultivated. The vibrant red-fleshed fruit, known for its numerous health benefits, has garnered attention for its superior size and quality, securing a higher price in the international market—fetching Rs 250 to 260 per kg, compared to Rs 120 to 160 in local markets.
This achievement is part of Palladium’s broader efforts to strengthen Odisha’s farming ecosystem, enhance supply chains, and support market development. Following successful exports of mangoes and vegetables, the focus now shifts to expanding exports to new markets, including the European Union.
