Gujarat cooperative leverages decades of structured dairy data to roll out AI-powered advisory platform across 18,500 villages
Amul has launched ‘Sarlaben’, an AI-powered virtual assistant to deliver real-time advisory support to dairy farmers across 18,500 villages in Gujarat. The initiative was inaugurated by Bhupendra Patel and marks a key step in the cooperative’s digital transformation.
Sarlaben leverages one of India’s largest structured dairy datasets, including over 200 crore annual milk procurement transactions, veterinary records covering nearly 3 crore cattle, and around 70 lakh artificial inseminations each year, along with fodder mapping supported by ISRO satellite data. The platform provides personalised, multilingual guidance on cattle nutrition, vaccination, disease prevention, breeding and relevant government schemes.
Accessible via the Amul Farmer app used by over 10 lakh members, and through voice calls for feature phone users, the system integrates with AMCS and the Pashudhan app. With procurement exceeding 350 lakh litres per day and 36 lakh milk producers, the initiative aims to improve productivity, disease management and farmer incomes.
