The new plant doubles the production capacity and delivers the products at a much higher speed.
Bottled mineral water brand Bisleri recently inaugurated India's first vertical bottled water manufacturing plant in Mumbai.
The vertical plant is the first of its kind in the world for packaged mineral water. The capacity of old plant production was 430 bottles per minute; the new plant doubles the production capacity and delivers the products at a much higher speed.
Bisleri has 135 plants spread nationally and internationally. A plant in each district to cater to the needs of the consumers. The vertical plant is distributed across 5 levels spread over 18000 sq meters. The water goes through the ten-step purification process, right from sourcing the water at ground level, to the unique ozonation process to the final product. All the machines are fully automated running on the pre-feed data including secondary packaging, leaving no scope for human intervention.
Ms. Anjana Ghosh, Director Marketing, Bisleri Pvt Ltd, said: “Unlike other FMCG products, water is a voluminous product and has to be replenished every day and so it needs to be close to the consumer market."
"The vertical plant will help us reach to the consumers every day and address the need for the growing demand. Each of our plants has groundwater as a source, which is tested for its purity, so one is exactly aware of what is the micro-contamination in the water, and accordingly, the treatment is prepared. So from the groundwater, it comes to the raw water tank where the ozonation takes place. We don't use any chemicals. We instead use ozone. In totality, until the bottle is filled, there are 114 tests that are done," she further added.
The demand for packaged mineral drinking water has been growing at a fast pace and is predicted to continue growth at a rate of 22%-30%.
