PAU signs agreement for bottled sugarcane juice

The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has recently signed a Memorandum of Agreemenet (MoA) with the RVG Agro Private Limited, Sangli, (Maharashtra) for commercialisation of sugarcane juice bottling technology.


Dr Poonam Aggarwal Sachdev, HoD, Department of Food Technology and Karanvir Gill (teaching associate) have developed a sugarcane juice technology that is shelf stable, preservative free and ready to serve.


According to Dr Sachdev, the sugarcane juice is thermally processed to kill micro-organisms and increase shelf life, thereby offering a completely healthy and hygienic product in comparison to roadside vendors.
