The 8th edition of Annapoorna - World of Food India was culminated last week in Mumbai. One of the popular trade events in the food industry, Annapoorna was held from September 23-25 at Bombay Exhibition Center in the city.
The annual event is organized as a joint venture of the Koelnmesse YA Tradefair India and Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). Koelnmesse YA Tradefair Pvt Ltd. is the Indian subsidiary of Koelnmesse GmbH, Germany, organizers of ANUGA – a global platform for food and drink industry.
The exhibition witnessed participation from more than 150 companies from across the globe. Special pavilions were set up for various countries including Argentina, Canada, Europe, Korea, Spain, and USA.
Booths at the exhibition showcased a wide range of food products from basic foods, processed food and beverages, convenience products, meat and fish to frozen food products, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, dairy products, bakery goods, fruit and vegetables
Major participants from India included Hindustan Unilever, Cargill India, Coconut Development Board, Coffee Board of India, Danone, Envirocare Labs, Equinox Labs, Ministry Food Processing Industries and Spices Board India.
European Theme Pavilion
The fair had another attraction in the form of “European Theme Pavilion” - a platform where chefs demonstrated European specialised foods and drinks. The European kitchen presented nine workshops in spanning three days. The workshops were oriented to professionals in the food industry.
The workshops covered a wide range of topics from traditional European food, use of olive oil in food, European cheeses, wines to molecular gastronomy and chocolates.
The workshops were supported by European Union, agriculture and environment ministry of Spain and Spanish Food and Drink Industry Federation.
