The Food Processing Committee, Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industries & Agriculture (MCCIA), Pune chaired by Mr Anand Chordia, has been continuously serving as a  contact point for enhancing business links and to work for dissemination of important business information to food processing units.

 

MCCIA recently conducted surveys of Industries and Institutions operating in the Food Processing sector. The organisation co-ordinates with stock holders from all sectors of the Industry (small, medium and large scale industries) and is currently focusing on small and medium scale industries. In the next phase, there is a plan to focus on programs for the women’s group and more guidance for the students.

 

MCCIA has also organized Open Day Visits to various Food Processing Industries to fellow Industry members providing a platform for exchange of cross culture experience. It was a good opportunity for students to witness how the Industry caters to the needs of customers.

 

Another initiative by MCCIA came in during the CSIR- CFTRI Day where Dr Rama Rajasekharan- Director CSIR- CFTRI, Mysuru along with his team of 8 scientists shared a pool of knowledge on various technologies and shared the need for Food Processing Industries to embrace advanced technologies to enhance the nutritional value of their products considering the changing food consumption practices in the country.

 

Very recently, the Food Processing Committee at MCCIA had initiated a very unique conclave on Ideas Innovation & Industry Enabling Smart Food Factories in Pune. The Conclave witnessed inspiring insights and talks by global experts from University of Queens land, Australia; University of Saskatchewan, Canada, Pescara Italy, IITB-Monash University, Greenyard Pvt. Ltd. Belgium and others. It covered talks on the forefront of Automation, Digitization, Green Building Approach, Technological approach towards Agriculture, 3D printing in Food, Agriculture-Food Industry Connect, Govt policies and much more.
