Ram Vilas Paswan asserted that the main objective of FCI is to ensure that farmers in the country get their due share.

The Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Ram Vilas Paswan recently chaired an Inter-Session Consultative Committee Meeting of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

The Inter-Session Consultative Committee Meeting was held to review the functioning of Food Corporation of India (FCI) and Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). Addressing the Committee members and officials, Ram Vilas Paswan asserted that the main objective of FCI is to ensure that farmers in the country get their due share and all possible efforts should be made to ensure that the objective is achieved.

Paswan gave 4 key points regarding procurement, storage, maintenance of stock and appointments/recruitments. The Union Minister said that it is a matter of public concern and regular inspection of all stock should be done to ensure quality product is delivered to the final consumer.
