Assam-based Sarbananda Sonowal has been given the charge of Ayush Ministry

In the reshuffle of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Cabinet that underwent a reboot today, Assam-based Sarbananda Sonowal has been given the charge of Ayush Ministry (Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa and Homoeopathy). He will also be handling Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

A former Chief Minister of Assam, Sonowal has also served as the Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of India, from 2014 to 2016.

In addition, Dr Manjupara Mahendrabhai has been appointed as Minister of State (MoS) of Ayush Ministry.

A total of 43 political leaders have been sworn-in as union ministers, and some are promoted.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, “I congratulate all the colleagues who have taken oath today and wish them the very best for their ministerial tenure. We will continue working to fulfil aspirations of the people and build a strong and prosperous India.”
