Wipro buys Kerala-based packaged food brand Nirapara

Nirapara becomes Wipro’s 13th acquisition

Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting, a part of Wipro Enterprises, has entered the packaged food and condiments segment after acquiring Kerala-based Nirapara food brand. The acquisition of Nirapara comes after Wipro announced its entry into the food business in India in August 2022.

Established by KKR Karnan in the year 1976, Nirapara’s distribution chain covers more than 150,000 retail outlets through 500 distributors.

After establishing itself as a premium rice manufacturer, the company has diversified its business. By employing state-of-the-art technology, the company introduced a wide range of food products into the market under the ‘Nirapara’ brand. From whole spices to masala powders, vegetarian and non-vegetarian pickles, the brand offers numerous products other than rice.

The company also has a strong presence in international markets covering regions like the Middle East, Africa, Australia, UK, Canada and US etc. Its authentic Kerala food products are exported to more than 46 countries under Nirapara brand.
