Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the government is committed to ensuring that the country sets global benchmarks for innovation, sustainability, and safety in the food sector. In a video message on the first day of the World Food India 2024 event in New Delhi, the Prime Minister emphasised India’s vibrant and diverse food culture, highlighting the crucial role of farmers as the backbone of the country’s food ecosystem. He also mentioned that the government supports farmers with innovative policies and focused implementation.
On the inaugural day of World Food India, Pralhad Joshi, the Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister, praised the initiative to recognise the potential of the Food and Processing sector. Joshi emphasised the need to enhance the quality and branding of processing products and expressed hope for the country to achieve new heights in the food and processing sector in the coming years.
Speaking on the occasion, Chirag Paswan, Food Processing Industries Minister highlighted the important role of the food and processing sector in empowering farmers and contributing significantly to the country’s economy and job creation. Paswan also mentioned that World Food India aims to elevate the food processing industry sector to a global stage.
The four-day World Food India 2024 began at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, with participation from over 90 countries, 26 Indian States and Union Territories, and 18 Central Ministries and allied government bodies.
