The new carton packages feature 5 per cent certified recycled polymers and comply with the Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules 2022, set to take effect on April 1, 2025
Tetra Pak has introduced packaging materials containing recycled polymers in India, marking a major advancement in the country’s food and beverage packaging sector. The new carton packages feature 5 per cent certified recycled polymers and comply with the Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules 2022, set to take effect on April 1, 2025.
This initiative underscores Tetra Pak’s commitment to promoting circularity by reducing dependence on fossil-based resources and encouraging material reuse. The packaging has been certified by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS, a globally recognised system known for its strict sustainability standards.
The recycled polymers used are sourced and allocated following the ISCC mass balance attribution method, which employs chemical recycling technology to produce plastics combining recycled and non-recycled materials while ensuring the recycled content is tracked throughout the supply chain.
