FSSAI is in the process of developing regulations for the safety of assessment of such foods
In a recent notice, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has notified the Food Safety and Standard (FSS) (approval for non-specified food and food ingredients- NSF) for approval of non specified food including novel foods.
The notice also mentioned that in the absence of regulation related to genetically modified (GM) or GM derived materials, several applications will be received by FSSAI under aforesaid regulations.
FSSAI is in the process of developing regulations for the safety of assessment of such foods.
Further FSSAI has decided that no applications related to GM or GM derived materials shall be accepted under NFS regulations.
