Pune division’s 10 railway stations earn Eat Right Station certification

This certification assures passengers of clean and safe food availability at these stations

Ten railway stations in the Pune division, including Pune itself, have earned the ‘Eat Right Station’ certification. This is part of the ‘Eat Right India’ initiative led by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to promote safe and hygienic food options at railway stations.

Food vendors at these stations were trained in proper food preparation and handling, and an independent agency evaluated their compliance with these standards, resulting in the certification. This certification assures passengers of clean and safe food availability at these stations.

The initiative was implemented by the Pune division of the Food and Drug Administration, with funding support from Marico India Company’s social responsibility program. Narayan Sarkate coordinated the project with support from Sudhir Kumar, the Central Food Safety Officer at Pune railway station.
