India’s rice exports up by 64% in December

In addition to rice, several other agri-food products also saw significant growth compared to December 2023

India’s agri-food export sector recorded robust growth in December 2024, with rice exports witnessing an impressive rise of 64.03 per cent, climbing from $0.87 billion in December 2023 to $1.43 billion in the same month this year. This remarkable performance solidifies India’s position as a key player in the global agricultural market.

In addition to rice, several other agri-food products also saw significant growth compared to December 2023:

Other Cereals: Up by 67.89 per cent

Cashew: Increased by 45.7 per cent

Coffee: Grew by 36.88 per cent

Tobacco: Witnessed a 23.96 per cent rise

Meat, Dairy, and Poultry Products: Registered 17.87 per cent growth

Fruits and Vegetables: Saw a modest increase of 3.77 per cent

Spices: Slight growth of 1.73 per cent

Drugs and Pharmaceuticals: Marginal increase of 0.63 per cent

This surge in exports is attributed to rising global demand, competitive pricing, and enhanced production capabilities in India. The sharp uptick in rice exports, in particular, highlights the country’s ability to cater to international needs efficiently.
