APEDA facilitates air shipment of Karnataka’s bananas, betel leaves and indi lime to Maldives

In a landmark achievement for India’s agri-exports, the first-ever air shipment of Karnataka’s GI-tagged produce has been successfully flagged off to the Maldives.

This historic consignment features iconic regional treasures — Nanjangudu Rasabale (the King of Bananas), Mysore Betel Leaves (Chigurele) and Indi Lime, celebrated worldwide for their quality, heritage and unique identity.

Facilitated by APEDA in collaboration with the Department of Horticulture, Government of Karnataka and ICAR, the initiative reflects a strong commitment to farmer-led exports, assured market access and better price realisation.
