Amul to acquire dairy unit in US

Amul Dairy is all set to buy its first dairy in the United States. Amul, which will be the first dairy union in India to start a dairy plant on foreign land, will set up its manufacturing plant in Wisconsin, US.

 

The company has entered into a tripartite agreement with the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (the apex body of all district dairy unions of Gujarat that markets brand Amul) and a local partner in the US. Through this agreement, Amul can manufacture three dairy products, namely paneer, ghee and shrikhand, in Waterloo village located in upstate New York.

 

Wisconsin’s total output for cheese is around 27 percent making it the top manufacturer in US. A team of 8 directors from AMUL Dairy is already in the US to inspect the dairy plant for acquisition.
