The government will take part in World Food India 2017 next month for the first time and showcase the state’s opportunities in the food-processing sector.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the three-day international event in New Delhi on November 3. Among the participants will be 200 countries.

Jai Kumar Singh, Industry minister, Government of Bihar said, “We will put up stalls at the mega event in which people will be told about opportunities aplenty in Bihar in the field of food processing. We will show how our policy in the food processing sector is friendly and a top priority.”

Jai said incentive in the sector has also increased, and chief minister Nitish Kumar will approve it in the next cabinet meeting.

“We have decided to give special incentives in food processing and subsidy will be increased from Rs 10 crore to Rs 20 crore,” he said. “We willshow at the summit if anyone wanted to spend on the food sector, Bihar would be the best place to invest. Earlier, we were giving incentive of 20 per cent on total investment – now it has been 50 per cent of total investment.”

Shakti Sudha Industries owner Satyajeet Kumar Singh will set up his makhana (gorgon nut) stall at the show, which will conclude with President Ram Nath Kovind’s speech.
