SLN Coffee, which has been selling coffee to domestic and overseas markets, has launched instant coffee brand Levista. The company expects the top-line to touch Rs 1,100 crore with the launch of the Levista.

SLN Coffee had registered top-line of Rs 800 crore last year. The company had tried and tested over 50,000 cups of the blending before launching.

SLN Coffee will be launching instant coffee Levista in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka initially as south is the largest market for coffee and in three years, a pan-India market presence is expected.

According to N. Sathappan, Managing Director, SLN Coffee, the market size for instant coffee is 21,000 tonnes valued at Rs. 2,100 crore. It has been growing at 10-11% year-on-year.

The six-decade-old firm has been running coffee plantations for more than 40 years, exporting green coffee for more than 20 years. It entered the instant coffee segment almost 10 years ago.

SLN Coffee has a manufacturing unit in Coorg, Karnataka. The exports are over 10,000 tonnes every year.

Plans are underway to open company-owned coffee outlet in Kushalnagar, Coorg soon, followed by three to four outlets in Karnataka. Each outlet would entail an investment of Rs 1 crore to Rs 1.5 crore.
