In recognition of his pioneering research and outstanding achievement which revolutionized the nutraceutical industry, Dr. Muhammed Majeed, Founder & Chairman, Sami-Sabinsa Group, received a Shield of Honour from Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Hon’ble Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Government of India at the Assocham National Symposium on Nutraceuticals, Functional Food and Dietary Supplements in Delhi on 25th July 2018. This award not only recognizes Dr. Majeed’s outstanding contribution to research in nutraceuticals but also for his hard work to improve the public’s awareness and understanding of alternative medicine.

 

Dr. Majeed while combining elements of Ayurvedic traditions with modern science introduced Ayurveda to Americans. It’s been three decades since he has established the scientific basis of Ayurveda creditably in the West. Dr. Majeed believed the “Make in India” concept since the nineties. A new exports industry of standardized natural extracts has been developed in India due to his persistent efforts.

 

No stranger to accolades, Dr. Majeed received numerous prestigious awards and honors for his remarkable contribution to the nutraceutical industry. He researched and scientifically validated the values of medicinal plants which are not mentioned in the Ayurvedic texts. For instance, Tetrahydrocurcuminoids (C3 Reduct®) is a product derived from turmeric. The novelty behind Tetrahydrocurcuminoids is that although it is from turmeric with several of its beneficial properties, it is without the characteristic yellow color. It can be used as a cosmeceutical for its potent skin brightening properties as well as a nutraceutical for its antioxidant potential. Curcumin C3 Complex®, Gugulipid®, BioPerine®, Citrin®, and Saberry® are some other innovative products which Sami markets globally.
