IIFPT to expand incubation centre capacity

Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology (IIFPT), Thanjavur, has planned to expand the capacity of its Common Food Processing Incubation Centre (CFPIC) at Chettikulam village, Perambalur district.

 

Functioning under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), the IIFPT, which had established the incubation centre in association with State Department of Agricultural Marketing, will provide the technology support for enhancing capacity.

 

The Department of Agricultural Marketing and Agri Business intends to spend Rs 29.5 lakh allotted under State Balanced Growth Fund pertaining to 2017-18 to ramp up capacity at the incubation centre featuring an integrated onion processing unit developed by IIFPT and machineries for processing of value added products from onion.

 

The incubation centre intends to enhance the livelihoods of the farmers of the region manufactures value-added products such as onion paste, onion powder, onion flakes and vacuum packed peeled onion.
