CCASIA is one of the Regional Coordinating Committees established by Codex Alimentarius Commission

The twenty first session of the COORDINATING COMMITTEE FOR ASIA (CCASIA) is being held from 23 – 27 September 2019 in Goa.

CCASIA is one of the Regional Coordinating Committees established by Codex Alimentarius Commission, which has 23 Asian Member countries as of 2014. The main objective of CCASIA is to promote mutual communication among the Asian members as well as to develop regional standards for certain food products. Since its beginnings in 1978, CCASIA has been working under the purpose of the Codex of protecting the health of the consumers and ensuring fair practices in the food trade.

The Codex Alimentarius, or “Food Code” is a collection of standards, guidelines and codes of practice adopted by the Codex Alimentarius Commission. The Commission, also known as CAC, is the central part of the Joint FAO/WHO Food Standards Programme and was established by FAO and WHO to protect consumer health and promote fair practices in food trade.
