Tribal Minister reviews India’s 1st TRIFOOD Park in Jagdalpur

TRIFED has embarked upon setting up of TRIFOOD parks in Raigad (Maharashtra) & Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh) in convergence with MoFPI & NSTFDC.

Union Tribal Minister Arjun Munda while on a two-day visit to Chhattisgarh during the inauguration of the first TRIFOOD food Park in Jagdalpur, has stated that in order to make India strong, it is essential to make it more self-reliant.

Furthermore, the Minister reviewed the progress of the implementation of the programmes being put in place for the empowerment of the tribals, such as MFP, VDVK and TRIFOOD.

The two-day visit began with a review meeting in Raipur. The Minister interacted with Dr Premsai Singh Tekam, Minister for School Education, Tribal and Scheduled Caste, Backward Class and Minority Development, Cooperation, Government of Chhattisgarh; Secretary, Environment and Forest, Secretary, Tribal Welfare Dept, Government of Chhattisgarh; Secretary, Rural Development & Panchayat , Government of Chhattisgarh and other senior officers during the meeting which was basically conducted to review the progress of the implementation of tribal development programmes (MFP, VDSHGs and TRIFOOD projects) in the state.

TRIFOOD Scheme is a joint initiative of Ministry of Food Processing Industry (MOFPI), Ministry of Tribal Affairs and TRIFED. TRIFOOD Scheme, implemented in the backdrop of VanDhan Yojana will promote value addition to Minor Forest Produce (MFP).

TRIFED has embarked upon setting up of TRIFOOD parks in Raigad (Maharashtra) & Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh) in convergence with MoFPI & NSTFDC.

The TRIFOOD Parks aim to facilitate the establishment of “thematic tribal food processing centers” scientifically designed for processing of minor forest produce and other locally available raw materials collected by tribal communities under Van Dhan Vikas Kendras.
