TasteAtlas, a food guide based in Croatia, released its annual list of the world’s top 100 cuisines. Indian cuisine is ranked 11th on the list.
Italy topped the list for best cuisine, followed by Japan and Greece. Portugal, China, Indonesia, Mexico, France, Spain, and Peru rounded out the top 10.
According to TasteAtlas, a total of 395,205 dishes (271,819 of which were considered valid) and 115,660 food products (80,863 of which were considered valid) were recorded over the year. The website then extracted the top 50 food items for each cuisine based on ratings. Finally, the best-rated cuisines in the world were ranked using the average ratings of the best-rated dishes and food products for each country.
According to the list of 100 Best Dishes in the World by TasteAtlas, four Indian dishes and categories have made it to the top 50. The highest-ranked Indian food on the list is butter garlic naan, which secures the seventh position with a score of 4.67. Murgh makhani secures rank 43, followed by tikka at 47 and tandoori at 48.
Picanha from Brazil, Roti Canai from Malaysia, and Phat kaphrao from Thailand were ranked as the top three dishes.
Earlier TasteAtlas listed seven Indian eateries among the 150 most legendary restaurants in the world, including Amrik Sukhdev Dhaba in Murthal and Peter Cat in Kolkata.
