Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget for 2024-25, marking the first budget of the Modi 3.0 government.
In addition, the government will collaborate with states to promote digital public infrastructure for agriculture.
Over the next 2 years, one crore farmers will be initiated into natural farming, with Rs 2.66 lakh crore allocated for rural development, stated the Finance Minister.
The Finance Minister also announced that the government will comprehensively review the agricultural research setup to increase productivity and develop climate-resilient varieties.
Domain experts will oversee the research to ensure its effectiveness and relevance.
The Union Minister said that the Government will bring out a National Cooperation Policy for systematic, orderly and all-round development of the cooperative sector. She said that fast-tracking the growth of the rural economy and the generation of employment opportunities on a large scale will be the policy goal.
