JNPA launches project to enhance agricultural commodities handling

The facility will provide integrated services, including processing, sorting, packaging, and laboratory testing, ensuring compliance with food safety and trade standards

The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has awarded a Letter of Award (LoA) to the consortium of Trident Agrocom Exports Private Limited and Man Infraconstruction Limited for developing a multi-purpose agriculture commodity processing and storage facility at JNPA.

This Rs 284-crore project will span 27 acres within the port premises and is expected to handle approximately 1.2 million tonnes of cargo annually upon completion. The facility aims to enhance India’s agro-trade infrastructure by offering advanced processing, storage, and transportation solutions for agricultural commodities.

As the first initiative of its kind in India, the facility will provide integrated services, including processing, sorting, packaging, and laboratory testing, ensuring compliance with food safety and trade standards. It will serve not only Maharashtra but also neighboring states such as Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, bolstering the agricultural economy across the region.
