KVK Ropar organises awareness program on National Nutrition Week

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ropar organised one day awareness program on National Nutrition Week under the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS), Series Lecture, Ludhiana on September 6, 2021. The program held under the guidance of Directorate of Extension Education, PAU Ludhiana.

Dr G S Makkar, Deputy Director (Trg), KVK Ropar briefed about the significance of National Nutrition Month celebrated in the first week of September throughout the country. Dr Makkar said the theme of the program is “feeding smart right from start” to raise awareness on importance of nutrition starting right from birth of child. Dr Makkar shared that the quality of food and eating habits are responsible for overall good physical as well as mental health. Dr Makkar informed that PAU vegetable kits are available at KVK and encouraged all to grow their own vegetables.

Dr Princy Assistant Professor (Home Science) discussed the importance of mother’s first milk ie. Colostrum for overall development of child. She also emphasised on importance of balanced consumption of grains, pulses, vegetables, fruits, milk and nuts, etc. She also shared information on Nutri-thali for good physical and mental growth of the students.
