Govt allows export of Kalanamak rice

Up to 1,000 tonnes of the non-basmati variety is to be exported through six specified customs stations

The government of India has waived the duty on Kalanamak rice exports, allowing up to 1,000 tonnes of the non-basmati variety to be exported through six specified customs stations.

Previously, the duty on overseas shipments of Kalanamak rice was 20 per cent. This duty waiver is effective from Wednesday 3rd April, according to a notification by the Ministry of Finance.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) had earlier allowed exports of up to 1,000 tonnes of Kalanamak rice through the specified customs stations. The six customs stations where the exports of this variety of rice are allowed are Varanasi Air Cargo, JNCH (Jawaharlal Nehru Customs House) in Maharashtra, CH (Customs House) Kandla in Gujarat, LCS (Land Customs Station) Nepalgunj Road, LCS Sonauli, and LCS Barhni.
