Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali is all set to give package water companies a tough run. The company will be soon entering into the packaged drinking water sector with its ‘Divya Jal’. As per the Patanjali’s spokesperson SK Tijarawala, the firm is setting up a target to make the product available across the country in the coming years.

He further informed that Lucknow’s unit has been beefed up and now it is equipped for bottling 1,00,000 liters of water every day. The spokesperson said that the company may search for outside contracts and joint ventures later on when the volume develops. He, in any case, did not mention Divya Jal’s MRP.

In June 2016, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) raised worries about quality and safety of packaged drinking water sold in the nation as the major portion of bottling units were operating without obtaining a license from the regulators.

Patanjali Ayurveda sales have jumped up to Rs 10, 561 crores in the year 2017, which is more than double to its figures of 2014-15, Rs 2006 crore. The company is expecting a further hike of Rs 20,000-25,000 crore in sales by 2018.
