FSSAI takes back advisory on A1 and A2 milk

FSSAI withdrew the previous advisory to provide more time for consultations with stakeholders

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) previously issued an advisory stating that A1 and A2 types of milk and milk products should not make claims that do not conform with the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. Food business operators were initially given six months to remove A1 and A2 claims from their products and use up pre-printed labels.

However, in a new advisory, FSSAI withdrew the previous advisory to provide more time for consultations with stakeholders. This means that food business operators can continue to sell and market their milk and milk products with claims of A1 and A2 types, as stated by the regulator in the new advisory.
