Government extends FSSAI chief Ganji Kamala V Rao’s tenure

This marks his second extension in this role, and his current extended term was scheduled to end on August 31, 2024

The Centre government of India has extended Ganji Kamala V Rao’s tenure as the Chief Executive Officer of the Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) for another year, as per a Personnel Ministry order. This marks his second extension in this role, and his current extended term was scheduled to end on August 31, 2024.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the extension of Ganji Kamala V Rao’s re-employment as CEO of FSSAI on a contract basis for one year beyond August 31, 2024. Rao, a 1990-batch (retired) Indian Administrative Service officer of Kerala cadre, was appointed as the FSSAI chief in December 2022. His tenure was initially extended by one year, beyond August 31, 2023, which was his superannuation date.
