External use of polyherbal oils effective in treating Post-COVID lung infections: Study

Polyherbal oil having properties of inhibiting SARS-CoV-2 can prove to be a promising therapeutic approach against COVID-19

A study conducted on golden Syrian hamsters has revealed that the external use of polyherbal oils is effective in fighting the impact of COVID-19 and they also play a role in preventing the viral infection and treating lung injuries triggered by it.

The study has been conducted by the Research, Development and Innovation department of Delhi-based startup God’s Own Store, in collaboration with the pharmacology department at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.

The researchers have revealed that if polyherbal oils — Sudarshan-AV  (SAV) and Elixir- AV (EAV)  are applied before the SARS-CoV-2 infection, they limit the viral entry and replication.

On the other hand, if applied post infection, it results in reducing SARS-CoV-2 associated pulmonary pathologies, lung injuries, pro-inflammatory cytokines through immuno-modulation and prevents/ ameliorates disease pathology.

Sudarshan-AV polyherbal oil was prepared using the different plants/herb/oil extract from Marjoram, French lavender, Peppermint, Clove, Basil, to name a few. While Elixir-AV oil mainly consists of essential oils from Eucalyptus, Ginger, Garlic and Turmeric.
