Inside BENEO’s new pulse plant: pioneering sustainable protein from faba beans
The company, incubated by Kanoria Foundation, is targeting what it calls the adherence gap in preventive health
D2C wellness startup Aarus announced its India launch, building its offering around functional ingredients delivered through everyday formats such as cocoa drinks, sweeteners and chewing gum, as an alternative to conventional pills.
The company, incubated by Kanoria Foundation, is targeting what it calls the adherence gap in preventive health: consumers buy supplements but fail to sustain usage. Aarus’s approach is to embed clinically formulated compounds into everyday formats that don’t require building new habits.
Its first product, Drift, is a nighttime cocoa blend designed to aid sleep using botanical extracts, amino acids, and minerals. Positioned to fit into existing post-dinner routines, the product reframes supplementation as a habit-linked ritual rather than a clinical intervention. The company said early closed-cohort testing showed improvements in sleep onset and quality, with some users replacing late-night snacking with the drink.
Drift will roll out initially through a waitlist before moving to broader online distribution.
“We are building products that people can adopt effortlessly by embedding them into their existing routines, rather than asking them to create new ones,” said Founder Yagyesh Kanoria.
“At a broader level, the challenge in preventive healthcare is not just access but consistency—people start with intent but often don’t sustain usage. Our focus is on improving adherence by designing formats that fit naturally into daily life. This approach aligns with a broader global shift, where markets such as the US and Europe are moving away from traditional pill-based supplementation toward products embedded within everyday consumption. We combine scientific rigour with familiar formats, while continuously learning from user behaviour to refine both formulation and delivery.”
The pipeline includes a focus-enhancing low-calorie sweetener, a mineral-rich salt alternative aimed at cutting sodium intake, and a collagen-support chewing gum. Kanoria, who has a background in biochemistry and pharmaceuticals, said launch timelines would be guided by consumer feedback, with additional products planned over time as the company builds across multiple wellness categories.
