UN report offers insights how geospatial technology can advance global food security
These efforts underscore FoodChain ID’s role as a trusted partner in advancing sustainability and climate-conscious solutions worldwide
FoodChain ID is a leading provider of sustainability services and technology for the food supply chain. In 2024, the company took several initiatives and announced new services.
In July, FoodChain ID and ReSeed launched the ReSeed Soil Carbon Methodology, an industry-leading approach for carbon market initiatives. This methodology rewards farmers for maintaining existing soil organic carbon, built through sustainable farming practices, and for removing and storing additional carbon dioxide emissions in the soil. It is the first program on the market to offer these two significant benefits while making voluntary carbon markets accessible to vulnerable and small farmers, enabling them to scale agricultural climate initiatives worldwide.
In May, FoodChain ID announced its Deforestation-free Services to help participants in the food supply chain comply with European Union (EU) Regulation 2023/1115, commonly known as EUDR. This initiative responds to the increasing demand from brands and retailers for deforestation-free supply chains. With over 25 years of experience in sustainability within the food industry, FoodChain ID’s Deforestation-free Services include due diligence assessments of supply chains and verification of compliance, including audits.
In the same month, FoodChain ID received approval as a certification body for GMP+ Feed Safety Assurance (FSA) certification. The company will conduct global, independent audits for GMP+ FSA across all species of animal agriculture. This new service enhances FoodChain ID’s commitment to comprehensive certification services, which strengthen the safety of animal feed production and distribution and the broader food supply chain.
In April, FoodChain ID launched its Sustainable Packaging Services, a suite of products and expert-guided services designed to help food and cosmetics brands, along with their supply chains, meet market demands for sustainable packaging. Sustainable Packaging Services combines new and existing digital tools that enable manufacturers to monitor and respond to evolving global regulations on sustainable packaging.
FoodChain ID’s initiatives in 2024 reflect its unwavering commitment to sustainability, compliance, and innovation within the global food supply chain. By addressing critical challenges such as carbon sequestration, deforestation-free sourcing, feed safety assurance, and sustainable packaging, the company continues to empower stakeholders to adopt environmentally responsible practices while meeting evolving regulatory requirements. These efforts underscore FoodChain ID’s role as a trusted partner in advancing sustainability and climate-conscious solutions worldwide.
