The CM elucidated that there are gaps in supply and demand of fruits and vegetables

Based on a directive issued by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, officials are striving to make the state self-sufficient in cultivation of vegetables and fruits. The CM elucidated that there are gaps in supply and demand of fruits and vegetables.

The Minister has urged farmers living on the outskirts of urban areas to cater to the high demand for fruits and vegetables from the urban consumers. Such a move would be mutually beneficial to the farmers and consumers, alike.

The Chief Minister directed officials to identify crops that are in high demand in the world market and recommended that they be grown in the state.

An Agriculture Products Marketing Committee is being constituted which will study the demand of agriculture products worldwide, marketing, pricing and other related issues. The committee of experts will recommend suitable profitable crops to farmers of the state.

Another boost to the state’s economy will be in the form of a special economic zone (SEZ) for food processing industries. To be set up on about 1,400 acres of land in Ranga Reddy district, the acquisition of land will be carried out by the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) and Ranga Reddy administration.
