Highlights recommended dietary practices

The post-COVID management protocol released by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare on September 13, 2020, Government of India makes important mention about dietary practices for patients who have recovered from the disease. 

The ministry recommends some best practices that include drinking adequate amounts of warm water (if not contra-indicated), following a balanced, nutritious diet (preferably easy to digest) and freshly cooked soft diet. It also suggested the consumption of warm milk with half teaspoon of turmeric (haldi) in the morning or evening. 

The release also mentioned that Indian gooseberry be consumed daily or 1-3 grams of its powder. Chyawanprash (5 mg) with lukewarm milk or water was also recommended, under the direction of a registered Ayurveda physician.
