Reusing cooking oil presents an array of health problems by increasing cholesterol, and poses cancer threats, attacks organ cells while also creating peroxides acid

The Food Safety Department has directed all the business operators to stop using edible cooking oil with Total Polar Compounds (TPC) over 25 per cent.

According to an official handout, the food business operators especially those selling local snacks including Pakodas, Samosas, Nader Moonji, and allied food articles have been urged to check used cooking oil. If the percentage of TPC is above 25 per cent, the oil should be stored separately and it will be collected against cash payment by Arise Green Private Ltd.

It has been said that the Biodiesel Association of India in conjunction with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), has flagged off Repurpose Used Cooking Oil (RUCO) Project to convert animal fats, vegetable oil into biodiesel for running diesel vehicles or any other machinery that utilizes diesel.

RUCO enables authorized agencies to collect edible cooking oil from food business operators as well as individual users which can then be transferred to a plant to make biodiesel.

Ashwin Bhadri, CEO of Equinox Labs, says, “The concerned authorities are making the right moves here. It is sagacious to offer the consumer some assurance of attention to detail and care regarding the quality of your fried products. Monitoring the composition of cooking oil for its polar content is a major step in producing a safe and desirable fried product.”

Reusing cooking oil presents a lot of health problems. It increases cholesterol, poses cancer threats, attacks organ cells, creates peroxides acid and can infect the white blood cells.
