Dr Kuldeep Singh shed light on the importance of scientific agriculture and urged the farmers to adopt different subsidiary occupations to augment their income
The Department of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has set up an information centre and nutritional outlet in the adopted village Attiana, district Ludhiana, to impart training to the farmers in advanced agriculture under the guidance of Directorate of Extension Education and Dr Kuldeep Singh, Head, Department of Extension Education.
Dr Kuldeep Singh shed light on the importance of scientific agriculture and urged the farmers to adopt different subsidiary occupations to augment their income. Suggesting crop diversification, he urged the farmers to adopt Integrated Nutritional Garden Model, in which 3 kanal area is dedicated to the cultivation of vegetables and pulses for domestic requirement.
In her welcome address, Dr Kamalpreet Kaur, Extension Scientist (Extension Education), discussed the importance of scientific agriculture and advanced technologies. She stressed upon the need for farmer-scientist linkages and farm literature for profitable agriculture. She also shared the details of the establishment of Information Centre and explained the concept of Nutritional Outlet established in the adopted village. She motivated the farmers to adopt kitchen garden and beekeeping in view of their nutritional, economic and environmental value.
Dr Jaswinder Singh Brar, Block Officer, also shared his views on the occasion.
Dr Ravinder Kumar, Department of Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare, advised the farmers to go for cultivation of recommended varieties of various crops.
Dr Sukhwinder Kaur, Department of Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare, laid emphasis on diversification of agriculture so that in addition to getting good returns, environmental conservation could also take place. Dr Gurjit Kaur, Dr Gurvir Singh and Dr Parminder Singh also spoke on the occasion.
The Inspector of Cooperative Societies Mr Surinder Singh threw light on different schemes provided by the department for the welfare of the farmers.
