Govt launches 21 food processing projects worth Rs 416.59 Cr

About 7,500 people will get employment

With the aim to provide modern infrastructure facilities for Food Processing Industries along the value chain from farm to the market, 21 food processing projects have been inaugurated by the Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, Pashupati Kumar Paras and Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, Prahlad Singh Patel, during the Food Processing Week from 6-12th September.

The total cost of these projects is Rs. 416.59 crore, and the Ministry approved a grant-in-aid of Rs. 104.21 crore for these projects.

These projects will ensure value addition, longer shelf life for farm produce, better price realization for farmers, an excellent storage facility and an alternate market for farmers in the region.

These projects will also provide direct and indirect employment to about 7,500 persons and benefit about 32,000 farmers in the core and primary processing centres (CPC) and (PPC) catchment areas. 

Speaking on the occasion, Pashupati Kumar Paras said, “These projects for developing state-of-the-art processing facilities will prove a milestone in the growth of the food processing sector, benefit farmers, growers, processors and consumers of respective regions and adjoining areas immensely.”

 

Some of these projects are: Paakhi Business in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh; Bikanerwala Foods in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh; MouryaAquax in West Godavari, Andhra Pradesh; SKM Egg Product Export (India) in Erode, Tamil Nadu; Samson CNO Industries in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu; Centre for Excellence in Grain Sciences in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu and School of Sensory Science in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu.
