Patanjali Ayurveda has recently received a sizeable supply order from dairy brand Amul in the fodder segment.

According to the statement given by Yash Pal Arya, head of Patanjali Forage, a division of Patanjali Ayurved to one of the media, “The company has brought a technology from the US to produce corn silage–green fodder derived from corn crop that is known to increase milk yield in cows. The plan, which entails roping in farmers to grow corn, will also help boost the fortunes of farmers.”

RS Patel, Sabarkantha Dairy’s deputy general man said, “The first entity to sign a purchase order with Patanjali is Sabarkantha Dairy, the largest of the 19 milk unions under the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, which sells its products under the ’Amul’ brand. The technology will help in increasing productivity, which will eventually improve the quality of the product.”

“Amul will purchase 10,000 metric tonnes of corn silage from Patanjali’s plant at Himmatnagar in Gujarat in an “initial order” worth Rs 6 crore adding that a memorandum of understanding was signed between the two recently. The plant has come up on land provided by Sabarkantha Dairy”, he added.
