IIFPT inks MoC with Govt. of AP

Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology (IIFPT), Thanjavur has signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) with the food processing department with the Andhra Pradesh government for developing technologies to increase efficiency and reduce post-harvest losses for the food industry stakeholders in Andhra Pradesh.

Director of the institute, Dr C Anandharamakrishnan while briefing about the MoC said that the Andhra Pradesh government had organised the food processing summit on October 16, 2017, marking the World Food Day. IIFPT signed the MoC at the event chaired by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and presided over by secretary to government of AP, M Girija Shankar.

IIFPT will further guide the relevant line departments like agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, animal husbandry and dairy to realise the potential available with Andhra Pradesh food sector. The IIFPT with its modern laboratories equipped with hi-tech instruments is engaged in the research and development of food grain processing, value addition, by-product utilisation through bioprocessing, process and product development. The centre also offers B Tech, M Tech, and Ph.D. programmes in food process engineering and M Tech programmes.
