FSSAI has now fixed Rs 1200 (excluding taxes) per sample for testing of protein and calories in meals

Protein and calories have been specified as nutritional standards in Schedule II of the National Food Security Act, 2013. As per guidelines on Food Safety and Hygiene for School level kitchens under Mid Day Meal (MDM) scheme issued by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2015, the State/UTs must consider engaging CSIR institutes or NABL accredited labs and FSSAI accredited labs undertaking testing of samples of MDM for food safety and contamination.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has now fixed Rs 1200 (excluding taxes) per sample for testing of protein and calories in meals under Integrated child development services (ICDS) and MDM schemes by FSSAI notified labs with immediate effect.
