The 120-year-old Wagh Bakri Tea Group, India’s largest privately-held and third-largest packaged tea company, launched its premium tea range at a ceremony that took place at Hotel Vivanta by Taj, Bengaluru, recently.

Rasesh Desai, managing director, Wagh Bakri Tea Group, stated that Bengaluru has played a very important role in his career. It is this journey through which he knows that Bengaluru is a unique tea destination where tea connoisseurs will be delightfully introduced to Wagh Bakri Tea.

Recently, India’s president Pranab Mukherjee and prime minister Narendra Modi felicitated Wagh Bakri Tea Group with the Family Legacy Business Award in New Delhi, amidst the presence of prominent business leaders of the nation.

Wagh Bakri Tea Group, founded by Narandas Desai in 1892, has one of the widest range of teas in India and over 30 countries. The group’s turnover is over Rs 1,000 crore, and it distributes over 30 million kg of tea.

It pioneered the five-star tea lounge concept in India, and has earned this reputation by an undeterred focus on quality. It has a state-of-the-art blending facility and a National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories- (NABL) accredited laboratory for quality control.

Expressing his views about Wagh Bakri Tea Group’s strategic decision to introduce their range of teas in Bengaluru, Parag Desai, the company’s executive director said that Wagh Bakri is a brand which is a testimony of more than 70 million satisfied customers across the world. The company will delight Bengaluru with premium blends of tea, and are confident that Wagh Bakri Tea will soon become a household name in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Parag Desai also stated that after successfully introducing Wagh Bakri Tea and gaining acceptance in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the company is confident that Bengaluru, which is home to the crème de la crème of the nation’s talent, will accept brand Wagh Bakri with great fervour.
