Satara Mega Food Park Pvt Ltd, Maharashtra’s maiden mega food park, was recently inaugurated in Degaon, a village in Satara District, by Harsimrat Kaur Badal, minister of food processing industries, Government of India, in the presence of state chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. This was the twelfth mega food park operationalised in the country so far, and the tenth to be operationalised during the tenure of the current government.

To give a major fillip to the food processing industry by adding value and reducing food wastage at each stage of the supply chain with a particular focus on perishables, MoFPI is implementing the mega food park scheme in the country.

Satara mega food park will leverage an additional investment of about Rs 250 crore in 25-30 food processing units in the park and would eventually lead to a turnover of about Rs 450-500 crore annually. The park will also provide direct and indirect employment to 5,000 persons and benefit about 25,000 farmers in the central processing centre (CPC) and primary processing centres (PPC) catchment areas.
