Gujarat scientists develop wonder water for fresh veggies


Ahmedabad based Institute for Plasma Research (IPR) has developed wonder water that can kill E. coli, fungus and other microbes. Once dipped in this water, fruits and veggies like tomatoes and potatoes remain bright and fresh for a good 40 days.


IPR scientists have developed the Plasma Activated Water (PAW) system at its Facilitation Centre for Industrial Plasma Technologies (FCIPT) in Gandhinagar. The scientists say the system was developed over past few months where normal water, once treated with non-thermal plasma, turns into PAW, or wonder liquid.


On being tested for its potential uses, PAW was found to have excellent anti-microbial properties. Tests at Gujarat Environment Management Institute (GEMI) revealed that PAW eliminated all escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria, found aplenty in human gut and sewerage water, in just 30 minutes.
