Mars, Incorporated, producer of some of the famous products like M&M’s, SNICKERS, TWIX, MILKY WAY, DOVE, PEDIGREE, ROYAL CANIN, WHISKAS, EXTRA, ORBIT, MARS DRINKS and the Tata Trusts have entered into strategic partnership to support India’s goal of contributing towards helping address nutritional gaps for all population segments.

This is one of the ways they will be working to deliver enhanced nutrition in the form of protein-rich, nutritious products manufactured locally.

The new collaborative venture was recently inaugurated by Stephen Badger, Chairman of Mars, Incorporated, and R Venkataramanan, Managing Trustee of the Tata Trusts, as well as senior officials from the two organisations.

The partnership will enable both organisations to accelerate their contribution to addressing some of the critical challenges facing society — in this case supporting the availability of affordable nutrition.

Mars will be fulfilling the work through Mars Edge, its division dedicated to human health and wellness through targeted nutrition. Mars Edge was set up to use the latest science, data and technology to create easy, enjoyable and tailored nutrition solutions that are a seamless part of everyday lives and deliver measureable benefits.

Stephen Badger said: “The world is facing huge social, environmental and health challenges that require forward-thinking partnerships and collaboration. As a global business, we believe we have a responsibility and the capability to help address some of the critical challenges faced by society by creating commercially viable products that can make a difference. We are thrilled that the Tata Trusts’ strong commitment to improving quality of life and nutrition in India made them a natural partner for us.”

“As a purpose-driven company, we’re excited at the prospect of innovating with new products that create value for consumers and address societal needs.  We won’t solve the global health challenge with this one effort. But, it’s a small step forward. We’re enthusiastic about the difference we might be able to make in India – and eager to learn from our efforts”, he added.

Ratan N. Tata, Chairman of the Tata Trusts, said, “The Tata Trusts believe in pursuing important causes that are good for India as a whole. Nutrition is among them, because it enduringly improves the quality of people’s lives and achievements. I am very pleased that Mars is partnering with us in this joint endeavour on a multi-thematic programme.”

With this collaboration, Mars Edge brings innovation and product development capability, sales and marketing expertise, and Tata Trusts bring knowledge of nutrition in India, understanding of local communities and their needs, and a distribution network.
