The issued order said that there is a need for maintaining online documentations

The designated officers of the Delhi government’s food safety department have been asked to maintain online records of the samples of food collected by the food safety officers (FSOs), as well as the inspections carried out by them. They have also been directed to keep a digital record of the analysis report of samples and inspection.

The issued order said that there is a need for maintaining online documentations. The officials said that the directions were issued to ensure accountability, transparency and timely decisions. In a separate order, the FSOs were further instructed to rationalize and conduct random inspections.

The food safety department ensures the availability of wholesome and safe food and issues licenses to food business operators (FBOs) so that they are within the regulatory framework of the food safety act and regulations.

It also regulates storage, manufacturing, sale and distribution of food by keeping surveillance over the food industry and markets and testing samples of food items to detect the potential risk of adulterants.

Ashwin Bhadri, CEO of Equinox Labs, commented, “From farm to factory to fork, food items may encounter many health hazards. Food safety departments identify potential hazards that may occur in food products during their journey through the supply chain and then work towards eliminating them. Therefore, it is imperative that these departments incorporate every method possible in order to obtain accurate results and augment the whole process.”
