Indigestion, acidity, and gas were found to be the top 3 digestive health issues

ITC’s Aashirvaad Atta with Multigrains commissioned a survey on ‘Digestive Health of Indian families’, on Momspresso, one of India’s leading platforms for mothers. The study revealed that 56% of Indian families have reported digestive health problems.

The value-added atta variant’s findings show that 77% of Indian mothers consider digestive health to be very important, while 56% mothers think that their families suffer from digestive health problems.

Indigestion, acidity, and gas were found to be the top 3 digestive health issues as more than 50% respondents reported suffering from at least one of these 3.

More than 50% believe that digestive health problems adversely affect energy levels and weight management, and the experience results in abnormal bowel movement amongst others.

40% consider their family’s as well as their own gut health as ’poor’, claiming husbands are most affected followed by in-laws/parents and self.

More than 70% highlighted that they resorted to home remedies, along with improving daily eating habits, as a solution to tackle digestive health problems.

Ashwin Bhadri, CEO of Equinox Labs, says, “Irregular sleep cycle, low water intake, consumption of spicy, fried or oily food and lack of physical exercise are the major contributors of digestive health issues. Enriching one’s diet with fibre-rich foods such as cereals, fruits, wheat-based products, leafy vegetables, etc. can ease digestion. It can also solve bowel issues, provide energy and create a sense of satiety, resulting in proper weight management.”
