Westfalia Fruit announces Chris Bush as Group CEO

Chris Bush is a graduate of Manchester Business School and INSEAD and has nearly 40 years of experience as an international CEO in the grocery retail sector

The Board of Hans Merensky Holdings (HMH) and Westfalia Fruit Group (Westfalia) has announced the appointment of Chris Bush as the new Group CEO, effective from 28 October 2024. Bush will be taking over from Acting Group CEO Rian du Toit, who will return to his previous role as Group CFO.

Chris Bush is a graduate of Manchester Business School and INSEAD and has nearly 40 years of experience as an international CEO in the grocery retail sector. He has led complex multinational organisations, driving growth and turnaround across various geographies. His expertise lies in leading people and operations at a large scale. Most recently, he served as the Divisional CEO of DFI Retail Group, South East Asia (formerly Dairy Farm Group), overseeing 1,500 stores across 7 countries. Before that, he spent 32 years at Tesco Plc and held various leadership roles, ultimately serving as the UK Managing Director. Chris has lived and worked in Europe, the USA, and Asia.
