Eurofins Food Chemistry Testing, previously known as Covance Food Solutions, is a global leader in laboratory services. In 2024, the company has made significant advancements through new appointments, innovative testing methods, groundbreaking products, and certifications.

In November, Eurofins DQCI and Eurofins Microbiology Laboratories introduced a groundbreaking test for Avian Influenza A in raw milk. This innovative solution aims to protect dairy herds and ensure the health and safety of milk production, providing dairy farmers and processors with a vital tool for efficiently detecting and managing avian flu outbreaks.

In October, Eurofins Botanicals announced a first-of-its-kind partnership with LeafWorks to launch the industry’s inaugural Mushroom DNA Species Identification Tests. This collaboration provides a cutting-edge solution for the natural products market, enabling precise DNA validation for functional mushrooms used in dietary supplements, foods, cosmetics, and other applications.

In June, Eurofins Microbiology Laboratories, based in Milwaukee, WI, developed a new method for enumerating acetic acid bacteria specifically designed for clients in the beverage industry. This test is now available as part of several new beverage testing packages and can also be requested on an ad-hoc basis.

Eurofins Microbiology Laboratories celebrated James Darney’s promotion to Business Unit Manager of Manufacturing for its Fresno lab in May. Additionally, Eurofins SF Analytical Laboratories expanded its testing capabilities to support Eurofins DQCI, broadening its portfolio to serve a wider range of industries. With expertise in chemistry, microbiology, and nutrient analyses, Eurofins Animal Health is well-positioned to meet the evolving needs of its clients.

In April, Eurofins Analytical Laboratories in New Orleans, LA, announced the appointment of Alan Roberts as President. In his new role, Alan will oversee strategic initiatives and operations. Eurofins QTA also promoted Anthony Lai to Vice President of Products and Market Development and Ria Sieg to a pivotal leadership position. Moreover, Eurofins Analytical Laboratories promoted Christine McIntosh-Cole to Business Unit Manager of Eurofins GeneScan. Eurofins GeneScan further announced Frank Spiegelhalter as Chief Scientific Officer for Allergens and GMO Testing, where he will lead advancements in allergen and GMO testing capabilities, continuing the company’s tradition of innovation and excellence.

David Ellingson was named Director of Scientific Strategy at Eurofins Food Chemistry Testing, focusing on driving method development, process improvements, and automation within the Nutrient Business Unit. Eurofins Microbiology Laboratories promoted Cortney Miller to Business Unit Manager for its Des Moines laboratory.

Eurofins Meat Testing welcomed Brian McFarlane as the Senior Director of Technical Services for its Meat, Poultry, and Seafood Testing Division. With nearly three decades of experience in the meat industry, Brian brings significant expertise to his role.

In February, Eurofins Central Analytical Laboratories received re-certification as an approved testing laboratory by the International Olive Council (IOC) for the 2024 season, demonstrating its commitment to excellence in olive oil chemistry testing. Eurofins Microbiology Laboratories in Louisville, KY, welcomed Aubrey Ismaili as the new Business Unit Manager. Aubrey, who started with Eurofins in 2016 as an entry-level bench technician at the Milwaukee laboratory, brings a wealth of experience to the role.

In January, Eurofins Grain Inspection expanded its on-site railcar inspection and testing services, reinforcing its dedication to providing agile solutions to local elevators, co-ops, and mills with rapid turnaround times. Eurofins SF Analytical also announced the addition of Trish Hook to the Eurofins US Food Team, marking a career transition for Trish, who previously served for three years in the Eurofins Consumer Product Testing Division.
