Akums expands industry-academia ties with NIFTEM-T, Thanjavur

Akums and NIFTEM-T will collaborate on research projects with specific objectives focused on new Nutraceutical products and process development

Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals, India’s leading contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management – Thanjavur (NIFTEM-T). Both organisations have taken a significant step in strengthening industry-academia partnerships, nurturing innovation, and enhancing skill development in the field of food processing and allied sciences.

With its diversified portfolio spanning pharmaceutical formulations, nutraceuticals, Ayush, herbals, Ayurvedic products, cosmetics, derma, API, etc, Akums has been a frontrunner in providing end-to-end solutions in healthcare and wellness. This MOU aligns with Akums’ vision to advance research and development, nurture future talent, and contribute to the growth of the industry.

Under this agreement, NIFTEM-T students will be provided with internship opportunities at Akums, allowing them to gain hands-on industry experience. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and industry requirements, preparing students for future careers in food technology and nutraceuticals-related domains.

In addition to internships, Akums and NIFTEM-T will collaborate on research projects with specific objectives focused on new Nutraceutical products and process development. These research endeavours will enable both institutions to leverage their expertise in developing innovative solutions in food processing and technology. To encourage academic excellence, Akums will also provide merit awards to top-ranking and meritorious students from NIFTEM-T. This initiative will help in promoting and awarding talent.
